Almería is to host the 15th Mediterranean Games from June 24 to July 3 2005. This region of Andalusia, on the shores of the Mediterranean, is preparing for a unique event based on sport, which makes a resolute contribution to solidarity, dialogue and understanding between all the countries and cultures in the Mediterranean region. Journalists could not miss this great event and, for this reason, the Almería Press Association - Association of Journalists, a body that is coming up to its seventy-fifth anniversary, is to organise the 1st MEETING OF MEDITERRANEAN JOURNALISTS “ALMERÍA 2005”, which is to take place from April 14 to 17 2005. It is sponsored by the Andalusian Regional Government and can count on support from numerous public and private bodies. An opportunity for “MEDITERRANEAN COOPERATION AND COMMUNICATION”, which looks to bring together journalist organizations from 27 countries.

The 1st MEETING OF MEDITERRANEAN JOURNALISTS “ALMERÍA 2005”, which includes the 6th Conference of Journalists from the IFJ's Mediterranean Group and the Forum for Mediterranean Journalists, is strongly supported by the Granada Press Association, the Federation of Andalusian Press Associations (FAAP), the Federation of Spanish Press Associations (FAPE) and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ). It can also count on collaboration from the Mediterranean Charter organization.

This meeting marks the end of the “Mediterranean Journalists” Project, which has been developed by the Almería Press Association - Association of Journalists since 1997, as a result of the city's hosting the 15th Mediterranean Games.
